Вопрос снят, если кому-то будет полезно:
1. Открываем в админке шаблон FORUMHOME и оттуда тырим (то бишь копируем в буфер и удаляем из шаблона) следующий код:

2. Открываем шаблон forumhome_forumbit_level1_nopost и находим там следующую строку:

После нее вставляем наш заветный кусок, сняв с него thead, т.к. в противном случае он со своего "законного" места ни на йоту не сдвинется.
В итоге должен получиться код примерно такой сути:

Сохраняем. В итоге эта служебная строка таблицы прекрасно схлопывается вместе с разделами категории и не мозолит глаза на самом верху форумов.
